Trigger Shoe on Handi
« on: June 19, 2009, 02:45:37 AM »
Has anyone put a trigger shoe on a Handi.  I have one on a bolt action and I was wondering if anyone has one on a handi. If so what size does it take?

I don't think I have but as we are from all over this country maybe we call it something else. What's a trigger shoe? Kurt

A Trigger Shoe clamps on the trigger with small set screws.  It has a groove on the back side that fits your trigger and it has the same curve as your trigger but it makes your trigger wider. For example. the trigger on a Handi is about  5/16" wide.  A trigger shoe would fit on your trigger but it would make your trigger about 1/2"  wide and the edges are usuallt beved to fit the contour of your finger which would give you more feel on your trigger with a wider smoother edge. I have one on a bolt action and I like it but it want fit om my handi's.  I will try to get a picture if I can.

This is a Trigger Shoe shown mounted on a trigger, but you dont have to have your gun apart to put it on. Its like a hammer extension, small set screws allow you to put it on or take it off with out taking apart your gun.

Shoes used to be a lot more popular on revolvers back in the 70's. There's no reason why it wouldn't work. It feels like it reduces the pounds it takes to pull the trigger because the presure is spread out over a wider distance.

Had installed a couple on some bolt rifles. About the best cheap fix you can do to improve trigger pull. they work great. Not sure if Ace trigger shoe is still in business.

I called T-Grips  today and they sold the last one yesterday. It yakes a #217 to fit a New England Arms.  They told me that they have had some not fit some of the older H&R .  From what I can find out, Ace is no longer in business.

Trigger shoes were popular when the Model 10 and 15 S&W's were police issue weapons. They had small narrow triggers and the shoe was wide and gave the feeling of of a lighter pull as it moved it over a larger area. The down fall was when the two small set screws would work loose and the shoe would move down the trigger causing the weapon to jamb and not fire. After this came to light we were told that the shoe was no longer approved for duty weapons. If attached with blue lock tite it was not a problem.
