A local shop has one for $199.00.  I'm thinking about making an offer.

Here on the GBO Classifieds they normally go for $150-$175. So far I've seen only one sell higher. I paid $160 shipped for the last one I bought thru here and got new in package fire sights to go with it.

This place will usually give me a little bit off because I'm a regular.  New traditional guns have gotten so high!

I went back and got the Renegade.  It's the version with set triggers.  I cleaned it up real good, & lubed everything.  A little bit of cold blue & a dab of linseed oil made it look 100% better.  I am going to replace the fiberglass rammer with a hickory rammer.  I have the blanks, I just need to get a 10-32 tip.  It also needs a new nipple.  The old one is flared a little.

Yep, looks a lot like my first year 54 Renegade switch barrel capper (have a 12 GA barrel for it too).   Enjoy.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I've had the same gun for 20 years or so.

A couple of years ago I change to a green mountain 1/70 twist barrel.....and couldn't be happier.

I wish they made the slow twist GM barrel in 28" or 30".

I wish they made the slow twist GM barrel in 28" or 30".

A good smith can do that for reasonable if you really want it. Example; Track of the Wolf Gunsmith service
*cut and crown a barrel $18
* Dove tail for site $15
* install rib screw $15
 That's only 48 plus the shipping of course and the good thing about it is it will be done right here in the USA.
Kinda like your own personal economic stimulus. Ya git what ya want and help the country ta boot  ;)

You can buy a Green Mountain drop-in barrel with a roundball twist ready to go.  Another nice thing is an aftermarket Davis trigger.  They are made specially to replace the T/C trigger. You can feel a BIG difference in the triggers.  They take about five minutes to change. You can get them at Track Of The Wolf.  I have a 58 T/C Hawken with a Green mountain barrel, and the Davis trigger.  I sold the old barrel and trigger.

It's too long for the gun.
