Powder Primer Question
« on: June 23, 2009, 04:18:55 PM »
Ok here goes. I haven't reloaded in about twenty years. Just got my new reloading shop built and in the dry. I have a loading press, scale, powder dispenser, dies and most of the little odds and ends needed. Enough Babbling. I will be loading for the following to start with: 25 Bullberry, 7x30 Waters Improved, 226 JDJ, 6.5 JDJ, 309 JDJ, 375 JDJ,and 45/70. All of these will be shot in a Contender. Finally my question. What powder or powders and primers would be a good choice to start with? I do have reloading info on all these calibers. What I want to know is if somone shoots them, what is there favorite powder for each caliber.

Thanks
Safe shooting
Doug

Unfortunately for the next little while, the question might be, "what powders and primers can you find?"  Many dealers have little or no stock.  I've found Varget to be about as universal a rifle type powder as I can get, with 223 up  to 45-79.  How it will do in a short barrel Contender I will leave to the experts.

Wish you great success!
