Over and Under Shotgun
« on: June 21, 2009, 09:19:34 AM »
I have the opportunity to buy a Armsport O/U.  Any opinions on this shotgun?  I'm not familiar with this.  Opinions Good or Bad Please.  Thanks

Never seen one and the only time I've ever heard of one is when someone posts a question like this regarding them. I assume it's a really elcheapo gun. While it might work OK and if it fits you properly might do OK for limited shooting I'd not touch it unless it's really cheap. You don't mention price or condition so it's hard to say what cheap enough might would be.

Italian made O/U guns as a rule are decent guns but there are a lot of different outfits making them there at widely differing price points. I'm just not familiar with their guns and have never seen one here in Bama. I rarely see them mentioned at all but from time to time folks like yourself ask about them. seldom does anyone have an opinion on them which makes me think darn few are around.

Armsport is an importer of all types of firearms and I recall they were located in Florida. They'll stamp their name on it and the guns origin can be  Italy, turkey etc. I know some were manufactured by Rizzini a fine manufacturer of shotguns. They use to import Huglus from Turkey which is now CZ. Whether it is a Rizzini or Paulies gun shop is anyones guess. Unless you are buying it for not more than $500 I'd be careful since repairing is probably a no go. Also chokes may be non-existant.

The fact that the person who now owns the O/U would make that deal should tell you a ton about what they think it's worth and they are the one who owns it now and supposedly at least has the most knowledge of it.

I've owned a fairly cheap O/U or two over the years but never had one I'd trade even up for a Ruger.
