Clean barrel means no sights on it, just the scope base.  Is that what you're asking?

does drilled and tapped mean they are drilled and tapped only for the scope base?  or are they also drilled and tapped for iron sights?

Just for the scope base, ALL current production H&R rifle barrels are drilled and tapped for a scope base.... at least until Remington decides to change that to cut costs.  :-\

I have a Rossi in 7.62x39... It's a good gun.
Came with wood stock, white line spacers, scope mount and open sights, hammer spur and a hard case for $179 out the door ;D... not too bad huh ;)

The Handi's are better looking though :D
