I've lost a few chickens to red tailed hawks.  The wife and I witnessed a RT picking off a pullet not more than 20 feet from where we were standing.  They have become too bold due to a lack of hunting.   

I agree with Sourdough,  Predator control as well as hunting should be regulated on a local basis based on local populations and conditions not on some blanket regulations enacted by the Fed's.

But the Fed's are not likely to give up any control they have over anything. So SSS may be the order of the day.

I mostly only shoot things that need shooting . Crows in the corn don't get eat . ground hogs digging holes in the field don't get eat . There are other things also . The two guys i stopped breaking in would not have been eaten had they not run . All the paper and other targets i shoot never get eaten .

Now Swampman, I get it (what you said), but you have to be careful about generalized statements.  I know this is silly, but have you tried fried eagle?  Would you eat some bustered that was trying to assault your wife?

Sorry, sometimes I just can't help myself and besides, it's early in the morning here and I'm still a little giddy, because it's going to be another beautiful day and I think I"m going kayaking.

If it, no matter what it is, is killing my live stock of any kind, I am going to shoot it. I might have to deal with the law later, but I will protect what is mine.

Shootall, the soap box is the news media and the internet. The news media is mostly in enemy hands (and Fox is now partially owned by a Saudi Prince and has started watering down it's coverage). The internet is plagued with paid shills and volunteer disruptors from the leftest controlled Universities.

The ballot box is coming under the control of the likes of ACORN and the Black Panthers.

The bullet box is going to have to be filled from ammo stashes, illegal ammo stashes that don't have the tracking whatevers embedded, if they don't get confiscated.

Availability of peaceful options is dropping like an inconvenient campaign promise.
