SBI choke tubes and steel shot question
« on: July 13, 2009, 03:00:35 PM »
I just got a brand new NEF SBI 12 gauge with 3.5" chamber and an extra full turkey choke. The gun is all black, NIB. A few questions, can I fire steel shot out of this gun for waterfowl if I change the choke tube and what should I change the choke tube to? Also, anyone with any experience on how the turkey choke that came from it from the factory patterns? Thanks.

It will pattern very tight.  3 1/2" hevi shot 5s and you're consistent deadly on turkeys.

For waterfowl get a modified unless you aren't a very good shot or you're only going to hunt early season.  Then get an improved cylinder.

Big ducks = 3" 2s or 3s
Little ducks  2 3/4" 4s 5s or 6s
