What is the range of a 20 Guage slug in the tracker 2 slug gun? I want a deer gun for my 15 year old daughter. Where we live most deer here are taken @ 100 yards or less.

I don't have one . I however do have a 20 ga rifled bbl and several friends have the gun you speak of . the gun with the right slug will do fine at 100 yards and out to 150 - 200 yards with the correct ammo if the shooter can do their part . Rather than try to explain how much different shooting a slug gun is over any other gun i suggest you look up tarhunt.com . go to the section on shooting a slug gun it helped me alot .
BTW every friend that i know that has one loves it .

One thing to take into consideration is although it's 20ga they still kick like a mule you can do things to lighten the recoil but just a plain jane with no recoil help packs a punch with slugs it's not like shootin trap with a 20ga. Personally I don't care for the 100yrd talk with a smooth bore unless you spend a ton of time shooting it and very few folks do. That being said 60-75 yrds is very doable with that bbl and the right slugs and lots of targets for a kid to practice on the 20 with slugs will turn a otherwise not to recoil shy kid into an eye sguinter and flincher in a heart beat many adults also myself included just go slow with them and it's doable. The gun he posted is rifled so 100 yard shots are doable in the right hands ( lots of pratice ). You are right about recoil . I cut the stock on a 12 ga 870 for my sons to shoot slugs and buck shot out of . It was a smooth bore with rifle sights . The gun was heavy and helped with recoil.

Thanks Fellas, I have a 12G mossberg slug gun, it kicks terrible. (I don't want to shoot it again) My daughter loves skeet but, that's with field loads. Maybe I bettter focus on a 30/30 Handi. What do you think? (anybody)

Wasn't trying to scare ya away from the slug gun but and I know kids and girls can handle them but then if you can go with a 30-30 thats the route I would get her going in much friendlier on recoil and she should be able to shoot any 30-30 with out developing any bad habits that is unless you consider wanting to shoot/hunt all the time a bad habit. A .30-30 would work great. You can also get some reduced ( maybe they call it managed recoil) recoil ammo fir them if you don't reload. that will give her something to practice with until she gets used to it.

I have a 30/30 and she has shot it and loves it. H&R 158 Topper inherited from my dad and granddad. She has an SB1 .410, I was thinking of a slug barrel, I guess I will have to get her a 30/30 of her own. She shoots competition and i don't want any bad habits. Thanks Fellas

I've been watching one on gunbroker.com just like mine (158 Topper AF prefix) but the starting bid is $329. Guess i'll check out my local gun shop they usually have Handi Rifles at about $250.

30-30 sounds like a good choice...20GA is not bad, but if a 30-30 is legal to hunt with in your area then that would be easier on the shoulder. Besides, it would still be an H&R/NEF so it gets my vote.
