Don't know where you're fishing but we catch Whiting with them pretty well over here on the GA coast, and small black drum also.

Used to have a dentist who banked with me who took his family camping in the Bahamas every year.  He swore gin was THE best for sand fleas and no see'ums--I think his formula was half the bottle as a rub for the outside, and half as a fortifier inside!     ::)

Used to use them for tuag in Delawre/Maryland. Most folks use green crabs now though.
