Traded My Handi's in on 1874 Sharpes

They are gone.  >:(     Got a Pedersoli 45-90 Sharpes


I will be looking in and watching for developments with the new ownership. Will they:

1. start to employ full depth rifling?
2. Improve lockup design?
3. Make out-of-the-box accuracy a priority?

When they do I'll get back in because I really do like these rifles ;)

You'll be back!  ;D The new hammer forged barrel facility should improve the barrels, dunno when that will happen or which barrels they'll be making. Just be aware that if they improve them too much, the price will likely go up substantially, we're already fortunate that we have a US made rifle that costs a lot less than a TC that is plenty accurate for the majority of the market it's intended for.  ;)

Too bad you won't be able to get modern 45-70 ballistics from it.  8)

I have a Shiloh sharps and it has been many years since I have shot it. Four of my Handi barrels got a work out just yesterday.

On the other hand, my original Sharps in 50-70 gets shot more than any of the HR rifles.  Guess it just depends on the shooter.

I still think the 1871 is a great action and the Handi is a neat rifle......................I just couldn't get mine to shoot the way I want. So that's at least partly my fault I guess.

I understand that extra input into the rifle means higher costs but........................I believe that this little rifle should evolve a little more in the accuracy department. But as has been said many times it is a great buy................especially if you tinker.

And yes I think I will be back.....................certainly will be tuning in here as this is a GREAT source of gun WISDOM....................and great folks too. ;D

Sorry to see ya go McL. :'(.  The Sharps are made about 70 mile down the road, (like goin to the corner here in MT.) and is a NICE piece.  Congrats, but I am sure you will be back.  These damn Handi's are like bulldogs and tater chips, so ugly they are cute and can't have just one. ;)  I shot a few Sharps and was always afraid I would scratch the darn things. :o  DP
