Loading 45LC using 45ACP dies
« on: July 04, 2009, 10:15:27 AM »
I've heard a 45LC can be loading using 45ACP dies.  Has anyone here ever done it?  The two things that come to my mind are... First, resizing, essentially you'd only be 'necksizing' the brass.  Second is the crimp, and I may be off on this, but don't 45LC use a roll crimp, and the ACP use a taper crimp?  IF that is the case, what would be potential problems taper crimping a 45LC?  Thanks for any help on this. Not to say you can't make it work but it's a poor idea. Sizer is not really correct diameter for the .45 Colt nor is the crimp correct and it's a make do poor plan at best. Just buy the right dies and use them.
