Unbranded clothing
« on: July 02, 2009, 07:39:17 AM »
It's hard to find some kinds of clothing that isn't branded, like a product or company name written on the garment as a form of advertisement. I find that Dickeys brand pocket t-shirts have good quality caps and t-shirts that don't have visible branding.

What's your tolerance for branded clothing? Mine is very low, and I only use it when there are no other good options. For example, I recently bought a new cap because I wore the old one out. I couldn't find an unbranded baseball-style cap anywhere I looked, so I ended up with a Beretta branded cap.

If your T-shirts, like mine, absolutely must have a pocket, then Dickeys brand sells really good ones. I find them at a local tack shop.

If I'm behind the company, I don't mind the logos. I especially like hats and t-shirts with gun brand and gun accessory logos.

Most of my shirts have a little tag that say "Carhart", as do most of my pants.  Same thing with hats.  The rest say Cabela's.  Don't have a problem with that.  Yes, even when I get dressed up, (as dressed up as I get) my shirts and slacks still have Carhart logos on them.

As for Tee shirts, I have three drawers full of Tee Shirts that all have Alaskan type themes on them.  Each year after tourist season my wife used to go and buy the shirts the stores had left over and did not want to store.  They marked them down real cheap, so she bought them to give as stocking stuffers for all the men in her life, me and her brothers.  I finally told her to stop, especially since most have never been worn and are Large and I now wear XX-Large.

As for other logos?  Don't have any.

Oops, I lied, I have two shirts with NRA logos on them.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I wear mostly harley shirts. I get them from places I've been, recieve them as gifts and a couple of guys at work have an agreement with me. If we're going out of town somewhere the others have not been we will stop for shirts.

Logos don't bother me but I don't go looking for them except for the above mentioned.

I buy T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, and baseball caps from www.cheapesttees.com   Unbranded. Very cheap.  I do not like some outfit's name on my clothes.  Cabelas supports the 2nd, shooters, and sportsmen, and I buy some things from them.

For the most part my t-shirts come from JC Penney with some limited ones from Cabela's especially if camo. None have labels or logos showing outside and few have the tags inside anymore as most now just stamp it inside the back where the little labels used to be.

Pants at most have the little name on the back pocket like they have since I was a boy.

Caps mostly have something on them a name a logo or something. Since most come to me free from the companies with their name/logo on them I don't mind. I wear them if I support the company mostly or toss them if not. I've got at least 50-75 of them laying around so wear them or not as the mood strikes. I'd rather they have some company's name on them I buy from or get stuff free from than some silly ball team name or logo since I never watch and cannot stand ball games of any sort.

I won't pay extra to advertise somebodies products that's for sure.   Never did understand why somebody would pay good money for a T-shirt with the name of a bar/ restaurant, beer, tractor, motorcycle, etc. on it. They should be paying you for being a moving billboard advertisement for them.   Now if they want to give me a t-shirt or ball cap for patronizing their store then I might wear it.

And I won't pay extra for a 'name' brand if I can find a comparable product for less. For example I buy Sam's Club brand jeans most of the time.  Speaking of jeans, I don't think that you can buy a pair of jeans that don't have a logo patch over the back pocket.

Brett, you jogged some memory cells in your post. I can remember in 1971, I bought my first ''Harley''. It was a 1971 Sprint, a 350cc motorcycle that Harley imported from Italy. When I took it over for a 500 mile check up, I bought a Harley patch for I believe around $4. It was the big wings and wheel patch that Harley had out.
My dad went thru the roof when he found out I had paid for that patch. He owned a beer and wine carryout, and all the beer patch's I wanted, didn't cost a dime. His exact words were, your advertising for Harley, the least they should do, is give you the patch.
I think about 15 years ago or so, I remember reading where Harley, made more money on their accesories and aftermarket products, than on their motorcycles. gypsyman

Yep, Used top be a lot of companies gave away ball caps, T-shirts and/or patches to their good customers. I have several Remington and Ruger patches I got free as well as ball caps from NAPA, Tide and a few other NASCAR sponsors.

If the five dollar jeans from the consignment shop have a label on them....oh well!  I wear what I can find cheap that fits.  I have some nicer clothes to wear on special occasions, but only cuz my Nanny and Mom buys me clothes for gifts every holiday. In my opinion clothes only keep you from going around naked.  I could care less who made them.
