I have a Encore .50 that likes 300gr. 452 XTP's/crushrib sabot,110 Blackhorn powder.  The Encores are basically a sabot shooting rifle, why TC won't say that in their ads. ::)..just causes new owners to buy more an more bullet combos before finding the sweet load. :-\

If I had to use a powerbelt it would be in the 300 grain range for better penetration.  You could cut off the QLA and you might get a better conical shooting barrel also, but then the warranty is voided.

The sabortooth bullets by Harvester are another option, very simular to powerbelts, again 300 grains at least.

Look into an older White or Knight rifle with #11 ignition. They were made for conicals and still work very well.

My rifle does really well with 120 grs. Blackhorn 209 and a 300 gr Hornady XTP or 290 gr. Barnes TMZ.
This is the first load I tried with the Buckhorne and it shot so well that I will not change.

Have you killed anything with that load yet?  My encore likes the same bullet, but no kills.  I used my White .504 last year in the early season, took the encore out in the late season, but no shots..

I've shot three average size whitetails (VA) with my Encore. Two with the Hornady and one with the Barnes.
All were complete pass throughs. Two double lungs, one double shoulder. Range on all were about 70 yards.
Good results to me.
My son has shot lots of deer with the XTP's and the Barnes bullets and has always had great results.

Mine likes a 250gr SST, Harvester Crush-rib sabot pushed by 120grs T7 FFG loose.
This load has taken 2x muley does, 4 whitetail bucks a 2 wt does. The farthest shot was the 4x5 wt buck in my avatar 127yds and he ran 25yds or so into the bush. All other shots were under 100yds with 90% "bang flops".
I tried some LEE Improved minies at the range with Pyrodex RS with very little success. I'd say stick with Powerbelts ot try the new Hornady
350gr FPB.
