7.62x25mm

7.62x25mm  Has this been done?  I was reading about this round recently in a gun rag that I get.  The author was claiming 1800 fsp out of a military submachine gun, do not know what the barrel length was, but I'll bet is was less than 14".  I was thinking that in a Contender one might get over 2000 fps. Does any one have any data on this?  Is it too hot for the Contender?  Any thoughts?  I have always liked the bottle necks myself and thought that this would be fun to try in the contender.  :-D

I'd beleive it since depending on bullet weight you can get right at 1500 out of a semiautomatic pistol. I think 2000fps might be pushing it, don't know if you can get enough of a slow enough powder in case to push normal weight bullets to that level, can certainly be done with very light weight bullets. Another way to go might entail using 30 calibre sabots with 22cal bullets. Since you will be loading it you must control pressure levels, as a factory cartridge it is definitely doable in a tc contender.
if you need to add politically to the word correct, it isn't!

22 sabots in the 7.62x25 is simply re-inventing the 22 Mag.  The 7.62x25 is perfect the way it is.  People claim to be able to make it better with sabots and sell them for 35 dollars a box.  It is bunk.  I have tried the sabots with extremely hot loads and the Factory loaded Selier&Bellot ammo puts the sabots to shame for accuracy and penetration.  Think about it...the little itty bitty bullet at best will expand to 30 caliber, and dosent penetrate nearly as well as ball ammo that ALREADY IS 30 caliber, and the 30 caliber bullets are very accurate, and God Only Knows where the sabots are going to go..........
The Hornady 90 gr XTP's are excellent to reload for expansion and defence and are a bat out of hell loaded to 1600-1700 fps.  If you want data for these bullets, go to www.reloadesnest.com when it opens scroll down and click on Pistol data, then scroll down to 7.62x25.
If you want a Whisper....get some of the reduced load data from Accurate Reloading for firearms that you already use, also,  the 7.62x39, makes an excellent Whisper with 4-6 grs of Red Dot and heavy .308 bullets.  I would certanly not turn down a long bolt or break-barrel chambered in 7.62x25....that would be awesome fun.
....make it count
