Did Souter ever say or even imply that he as a mature white male could come to a better conclusion then a non- white female?
IMO there is a more then a small difference betwen Souter and Sotomayor.

Brett, But thanks for posting that. But don't confuse the Anti-NRA clowns... Their like liberal clowns. They whine about everything and complain just to say something. That will not be good enough for them. They will want the NRA to do more, but they don't support them or donate to them.. Typical of something I would expect from a liberal, but not a gun owner.

You anti-NRA guys make me sick. You bad mouth the NRA,  but on the other hand you want them to come to your aid on gun issues. You don't support them and you want them to stick up for your gun rights. How pathetic can you guys be!!!

You have no right to complain about the NRA, you have done nothing yourselves.

I support the NRA because they are the best thing we have out there actually doing something for our gun rights. Just because I don't agree 100% with everything they do, does not mean I will dump them for the alternative of NOTHING. So go ahead and support the GOA and whom else you think is going to aid you Anti-NRA clowns. But remember this, not one other organization has accomplished a single thing without the support of the NRA joining in to help them... NO ONE

Hunter, are you done now?

I have every right to complain about the NRA, I have supported them most of my adult life, including now, but not for much longer.  I also do things "myself" to stand up for gun rights.  I think the NRA has become to commercial and too political and will sell a freedom to keep another.  Matter of fact, they already have.

Walked away from Republicans for doing the same thing.

"MERCY" Time for me to stop trying to communicate with folks like you."

yep...it probably is.  Hey I have a good idea...maybe the NRA needs a "bigger tent" too.... ;)   Ask the Republicans how that's working out for them.

Okay GOA supporters here is your opportunity to tell us what the GOA has done with your contributions (they do solicit contributions just like the NRA don't they?) to uphold our 2A rights.

Well?   Us NRA 'suckers' are waiting waiting.

What about her?

Did the GOA petition the Supreme Court to hear the NRA vs Chicago case, affectingly looking to overturn her recent ruling stating that the 2A does not apply to the States?   No that was the NRA wasn't it.

Other than a bunch of talk what has the GOA done?

WHAT HAS THE GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA DONE FOR US?
LETS SEE!

GOA Helps Push Pro-gun Coburn Amendment Over the Hump

Washington, DC - -(AmmoLand.com)- Gun owners won a long-fought victory in the U.S. Senate yesterday with the passage of an amendment to repeal the gun ban on National Park Service (NPS) and National Wildlife Refuge System land.

GOA was the driving force behind this amendment and lobbied Senators hard prior to the vote to get the provision passed. The amendment, offered by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), passed overwhelmingly by a vote of 67-29. People can see how their Senators voted on the Coburn amendment by going to: http://capwiz.com/gunowners/issues/votes/?votenum=188&chamber=S&congress=1111

GOA Summary Re Gun Control in America
Thursday, December 20, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com

This past year was one of the most dangerous on record. Headlines blared
what many feared would happen after the Democrats
took over the Congress: "New bill has a good chance of becoming the
first major gun control law in more than a decade."

That "new bill" is known as the Veterans Disarmament Act, and the
battle against it has been intense, as it would disarm hundreds of
thousands of military veterans who are suffering the ailments that
frequently follow combat stress.

But you should know that there was only ONE MAJOR GUN LOBBY that was
actively working to stop this legislation... ONLY ONE GROUP that has
been fighting the bill sponsored by notorious gun grabbers like Rep.
Carolyn McCarthy and Senator Chuck Schumer.

That one major lobby group is Gun Owners of America.

In April, Newsweek noted that GOA had "launched a public campaign to
block the [Veterans Disarmament Act] warning that the proposal could
'block millions of additional, honest gun owners from buying
firearms.'"

As noted by Newsweek, GOA's main weapon in this fight has been the
grassroots. Next year, GOA will continue fighting the Veterans
Disarmament Act. That's where you will find GOA... on the front lines
in the war to defend our rights.

***********************************************************
The GOA has email elerts you can sign up for, without being a member.
While GOA provides the ability to sign up for alerts by email even without joining their organization, I would wholeheartedly urge you to join as I have done. Their work no doubt comes with a price tag, and all of us need to be prepared to put our money where our mouth is ... particularly when it comes to protecting our freedom.

**************************************************************
While some gun-rights organizations have taken heat over the years for compromising, GOA proudly posts a quote from Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) on their website where he called them "The only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington."
********************************************
What has the GOA done for gun owners?........Lets see, how about

Larry Pratt on Glenn Beck show Fox News.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOCpqyZ4Xu0

**********************************************
Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is the political action arm of Gun Owners of America. GOA-PVF raises funds to support the election of pro-gun candidates.

Ron Paul had this to say about the GOA
"The anti-gun provisions in S. 397 would probably be stripped out in the House if all the gun groups were working together with GOA." --  Rep. Ron Paul, Sept. 15, 2005

Rep. Ron Paul is totally correct. Working united, we could have encouraged the House leadership to bring up a CLEAN bill.

H.R. 800, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, garnered well over 250 cosponsors and would have passed the House easily if the leadership had brought up this bill rather than its Senate counterpart, S. 397.

Unfortunately, GOA was the ONLY national group calling for the passage of the clean House bill instead of the Senate bill, which contained new gun control.  SDGO and several other no-compromise state level groups joined with them.

I think everyone on the forum knows Ron Paul is a good friend to the gun owner, but in his last congressional run in Texas, the biggest gun lobby in the country gave a higher rating to his DEMOCRAT opponent.

Now I know the GOA is not the only national gun lobby working their as-e's off for us, but look what they are accomplishing with only 300,000 members. Bigger is not always better! it would appear.

I am an NRA member, and expect to stay so, although GOA sure seems to be a worthwhile organization. That video clip from the Glen Beck show should be shown whenever possible. Another ex-con from Chicago trying to limit the rights of people who unlike himself, served time in the military instead of the pen..Some creeps have no shame.
Seems there is nothing wrong with supporting both if one can do it.
I have been an NRA annual member since Moby Dick was a minnow, and got the call for annual membership about a month ago and was just slightly put off. The caller got my yearly membership and then asked me if I wanted to give an extra $10, so they could provide a free membership for a active military member. I replied, "sure I'd like to do that, I know a Marine serving at _ _ _ _ _ , who has had a couple deployments in Iraq, may I designate the membership for him"?   Caller replies...Nope! ..Can't do that!  So I replied..Nope!..can't do that!

Now, that idea of sending a free membership to an active duty troop may be fine, but it sounds a bit like some politician's fund raising scheme..leaving me wondering if every $10 goes to provide a membership..

I don't know if this applies or not but since Minnesota elected (finally) that comedian the demigods now have the majority they need to prevent filibusters, which means that sotomajor will probably be confirmed.

According to Fox News today, NRA is getting ready to put a "full court press" on Sotomayor. It looks like they have been laying low..getting their ducks in a solid row..
I used that term "full court press"..not being a basketball fan and never having ever played the game..I hope that was the correct usage!.. :D

Here is some news I just received from the GOA alert.....Brad

NRA's Past President Strikes Again!
-- Urges Senators "not to confirm Judge Sotomayor"

Gun Owners of America E-Mail Alert
8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102, Springfield, VA 22151
Phone: 703-321-8585 / FAX: 703-321-8408
http://www.gunowners.org

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Last week we told you how NRA's Past President Sandy Froman was
calling on all NRA members to vigorously oppose the nomination of
Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. She did this in response to
the "wait and see" approach that the NRA's upper management has taken
in regard to the Sotomayor nomination -- an approach that may well
allow her to wiggle through and be confirmed.

Yesterday, Sandy Froman struck again. But this time she was joined
with another past president of the NRA and several current Board
members, as well.

"Judge Sotomayor's record on the Second Amendment causes us grave
concern over her treatment of this enumerated right [to keep and
bear arms]," the coalition stated.

"As Second Amendment leaders deeply concerned about preserving all
fundamental rights for current and future generations of Americans,
we strongly oppose this nominee, and urge the Senate not to confirm
Judge Sotomayor."

In related news, the NRA sent a letter yesterday to the Senate
Judiciary committee expressing "very serious concerns" over the
Sotomayor nomination, but said that the leadership "has not
announced an official position" out of respect for the confirmation
process. The letter indicated the NRA's management would be
watching the upcoming hearings very carefully.

One of the concerns about the hearing process, however, is that
Sotomayor will act exactly the same way Obama has. You will remember
that Obama tried to play himself off as a supporter of gun rights
during the presidential campaign, but then once he took office, began
showing his true colors.

Folks, this is a huge battle. And that's why it's important to
have every single gun organization firing all of its political
ammunition. This is a battle that we can win. So even though we
already asked you to contact the NRA's management last week, it is
imperative that they hear from you again.

ACTION: Please urge the NRA's upper management to tell Senators
that a vote to confirm Judge Sotomayor is an anti-gun vote. You
can use the text message below -- addressed to NRA Executive Vice
President Wayne LaPierre and NRA Executive Director Chris Cox --
to help direct your comments to the NRA.

  One trap we should be aware of;
  Just as the sneaky liberals try to get one branch of Christianity fighting another (divide & conquer);
we shouldn't let them do the same to gun rights organizations. I would be suspicious if one gun rights organization
started hammering at another one. I would wonder if they were were sucked into it by the libs...or willingly went along.
