Price/info on CZ 452 American or Varmit in .17hmr?
« on: February 20, 2004, 10:53:03 AM »
Hey guys,

Does anyone have any experience with the cz .17?  Common prices?  I'm assuming that after all the reviews of the 22's that I've read, the .17 should be a great gun, but I'd like to hear it.

If you've got a .17 bolt gun that you highly recommend I'd appreciate that input as well.

Thanks,
JCM

CZ .17 HMR

The CZ 452 American in .17 HMR is a great bargain.  I personally own one and they shoot very well.  I prefer them over the Ruger 77/17 which usually runs about $80 to $100 more... in fact, I think the CZ 452 series is the nicest (highest-quality) rimfire bolt action rifle available under $600.

I have a source for them at $326.95, and at this price they are a true bargain.  Of course, I'm waiting for USRAC to release their 1885 Low Wall in this caliber... it's been in the wings for two years now!

JCM - There's a place called Whittiker's Guns that has just about the best CZ prices around! Do a search for their web site and be prepared to drool! As for the CZ 452's I've got two of them a scout and a lux and believe me when I tell you that they can compete with rifles twice their price! Best .22 bolt action value out there!  :-D CEJ..
If I can't take my rifles with me, I don't want to go!

Thanks for the input JohnClif and CEJ.

CEJ, I tried a search through google, but didn't find anything.  If you've got an address or phone number or even the state/city it would be great.

Thanks guys,
JCM

JCM,
Around here the going price for a CZ American is about $330-$340.  I got one awhile back but can't remember the exact price.  I would recommend that rifle.  My 17hmr shoots better than most CZ 22s that I have seen or shot...and their 22s are outstanding.
Might try Darr's Shooting Supply in Red Bank Tn ( a suburb of Chattanooga).  If your in NE Ala it may be close enough to check it out.
Their phone no. is 423-870-2600.  You may want to call because they don't always have every model in stock.
Hope this helps.

Around here, the CZ 452 in either American or Varmint versions go from $349-$389, depending on the dealer.
I just bought a CZ American in .17 HRM a few hours ago! It was $349. Glad to see all the positive posts about them! I have looked at every brand of rifle in .17HRM, until I was worn out from looking! Seems to be no end of suppliers and makers of guns in this caliber. But after much comparison of triggers, features, quality, etc. I found the CZ was just head and shoulders above anything else regardless of price.
I was really sold by the fit and finish, plus the gorgeus wood, and deep bluing. Seems so rare these days to find guns that are so good looking, and shoot good too! From the target that came with mine, I hope I can shoot it as good as the factory did!
Ballard, the great American Rifles!
