Any Winchester 1895 lovers out there?

I have a 95 30/06 take down but I don't shoot it, but used an old 95 that was in the family in 30/40 Krag for years.

My stepdad gave me an old Winny 1895 in 30-06 when I was 17. Hunted with it a few times, IIRC, it kicked pretty bad with that hard butt plate. When I came home from the Army in '67 (I was 21) it had disappeared.    I wouldn't mind having another one but not at the current prices. I didn't think it was THAT good and the action was akin to opening a lawn chair with one hand.

I have an 1895 in .405 Winchester that I got from my great uncle in Granger, WY.  It has the straight stock and curved butt plate.  It is the most uncomfortable rifle I have ever shot in my life.  Uncle Merrill used to talk about shooting antelope with it, but waited until he got two lined up so he could kill both of them with one shot.

I don't know if I could be called a "lover", but I have a 1905 model in .303 British.  It's rifling looks just about worn out, but its a tack driver wth the old open sights and factory ammo.

I bought a model 95 in 30-40.  But sold it after a few shooting sessions.  My middle-aged eyeballs don't focus so well with open sights.

Same here I bought my take down for my collection I need a scope on all my hunting rifles.

ppine I have some 300 gr soft point and full patched winchester factory rounds that your uncle gave me when I lived in Granger. I tried many a time to talk him out of that rifle.
So in the end I got lucky and ended up with one of the first runs of the new 95's in 405, the ones in 270 that they rebarreled. It's one of my favorite rifles, and has been not only been hunted with but shot in some leveraction and bpcr events.
