Handi in .225 Winchester?
« on: July 09, 2009, 02:30:01 PM »
Hi everyone I am new here and have a few questions. Would it be possible for me to get a handi rifle in .225 Winchester? If not do u know of anyone who could make this rifle for me? Also could I get the Buffalo Classic in .45-110? Could this be done by rechambering? Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Welcome! Both can be had by rechambering an existing barrel, 22 Hornet or 223 Rem would work for the 225, and a 45-70 BC rechambered to 45-110, I have one in 45-120 and several others that are custom chambers.  ;)

Same one I and a hundred others here use, GBO sponsor Wayne York of Oregunsmithing, contact him and make arrangements after you get a barrel, ship it to him, that's what we do, his turn around time will be upwards of 3 month, longer during hunting season, he's a hunter too.  ;)

Thanks everyone so far for the help. Can I get a better stock for the buffalo classic? I will be making this a .45-110. I have heard that a shotgun buttstock is best for rounds like this. I need all the help I can get!   Thanks

All of H&R's stocks will fit the BC, it uses the same frame as the Handi and Ultra, GBO sponsor www.Gunstocksinc.com also sells unfinished replacement stocks, spend some time in the FAQs and Help sticky, you'll find the answers to most questions there, that's what it's for, enlightening H&R newbies.  ;)

I had one chambered in 225 sold it a while back though. Becarful with what 223 bbl you use though mine was a 1-9 twist so I had to use long heavy bullets the originals were mostly 1-14 twist and the best 223 bbl to do may be the 1-12 unless you can find a Hornet bbl like mine that has a 1-16 twist. I think one of Toms is a .223 bore  22 Jet bbl?  Kurt

I will be making this a .45-110.

Do you own self a favor there MoParDude, search the posts for ones on the 45-120.  I know that I and others have written volumns on our efforts!   ;D  These are complete with pictures and step-by-step directions on how to duplicate our... well, MY screw-ups.   ;)

You should also find ample discussion on why you should give thought to your decision on the 45-110.  I worried, pondered, considered and reasoned before I decided on the 45-100.  Then that decision was kicked out with one post from Tim!  I went with the 45-120 and my breath still comes in short gasps when I think about fondling her at the range!   :P  Now I'm not saying the 45-110 is the wrong choice...  :-\  even though it is...  ;)  but considering that even the 45-100 is a better choice then the 45-110, you might reconsider the 45-120!  ;D

Wait a minute...  :-\  Was it the 100 or 110 I decided on before I saw the light!?   ???  I can't remember...  :-[  I hate being senile...  :(  What the heck, who cares... let's get back to riding motorcycles, drinking beer and chasing young wimmins...  ;D
