Range day with the 7MM-08
« on: July 09, 2009, 11:50:36 PM »
I got 2 days in this week with the 7MM-08 barrel
Day 1 100 yards sharp head wind rifle shot GOOD but not what I was looking for
139 Gr. Hornady and IMR 4350 best group 2" from the bench
Scope Sightron SI Mil-dot seem the cliks are on the money 1/4" each click I yet to find scope except high end line to use this set-up low or mid tier scope always seem to need a few more clicks for the scope to move the point of impact on paper.
Day 2 no wind I used a 2" bright orange square dot on a white paper
3 different powder charges
4350: 43 grains
4350:  45 "
4350: 46"
COAL 2815
Results 43.0 grains 4 shots just a tad under 1" from the bench,The seem to favor the lighter charge.I sorry but I just ordered some nosler 140 grain Ballistic Tip,the Hornady 139.grain shoot outstanding

How timely. I was at the range last week with mine. I had half a box of factory Hornady ammo with the 139 grain SST and (3) Hornady Light Mag shells with the 139 SST. The LM cartridges shot just over 1". The standard ammo shot about 2.5" and more. The LM shells were around 2930 fps and the standard was around 2800.

I made the mistake of buying 120 grain VMAX bullets. I need to find a load for them or maybe someone would trade me for 139 grain SST's. Thanks for the info. I will definately use it.
Get right with the Man.

Ive been having trouble getting my model 7 7mm-08 to group with the 139 SSTs just loaded up some with 4350. 46 grains  I believe, have to look at notes. I may have to load up a few with 43 & 44 grains before I hit the range. If I cant get them to group I may have to try some different bullets
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting
