Powder question
« on: July 12, 2009, 11:23:47 AM »
Was at the gun show today and picked up a 45 cal Triditions with a lot of extras including scope sling and a shooting box full of primers bullets and cleaning supplies and powder.
The question is, what powder is it, the bottle says GOEX Pinnacle EZ loads no weight or any thing other than 45 cal but they are square app.5/16 and app 1 1/4 inches long so what have I got here?

The EZ Loads are supposed to be the equivalent to 50 grains of powder. Goex discontinued those, but I heard that someone had bought Pinnacle.

Either way, they were made by American Pioneer Powder company for Goex, just like Shockey's Gold and Gold Sticks.

That powder is known to be very hygroscopic, so keep them sealed well. If they absorb moisture, they have been known to come out the barrel like solid rocket fuel. Be careful not to start a fire. ;D

If it was me I would get rid of the ez loads. Go with powder either 777 or 209.

After the post I did a search and looks like it is something I dont want to use. I have tripple 7 and as I have no way of knowing how it was stored will not use.
Thanks for all info. This is the place to learn as someone will have the answer.
