California Handi owners or anyone else
« on: July 10, 2009, 05:27:42 AM »
Good morning every one. I sent my action off to Iilion to get a 45/70 barrel for it. They received it on the 26th of June & have completed the work so the gun is ready to ship. Anyways, I called today to see if it had shipped yet and was informed by the rep that my gun was on hold because since the gun is going back to CA they have to wait for the CA BATF to respond back to verify that I am  NOT a FFL dealer because if thats the case, they cannot send the weapon back to me. Has any one had experience with or ever heard of this? Does anyone have any idea how long that would take, because the rep didn't have a clue. Thanks & God Bless!

Probably related to the 2008 California firearms laws.

I just got off the phone with the California Bureau of Firearms. They were very helpful and clear.
If there is no change of ownership and if the firearm was not changed to a configuration that would not
be legal in California, there is no requirement to get prior clearance for the shipment.
The rifle can be shipped back directly to the owner.

This is the phone number I called - found on their web site.
General Information
Phone: (916) 263-4887

It would probably be a good idea for Remington to understand this.

Sounds like before long  a Handi with a thumbhole stock will be considered an assault weapon in the land of fruits and nuts.

Never had that problem. The BBT shipped it right to my front door about a month ago.
