Bore Slugging a 44 mag bbl

  I got a new to me 44 mag bbl as part of a package this weekend. It was factory fitted in 2008 to a 2003 receiver along with a 243 ultra
bbl. Anyhow I pushed #8 egg sinker thru the bbl as to directions in the FAQ's. It came out measured by my RCBS micro OD 430/431, is
this ok? What is the rifling supposed to look like? This definitely had more than 4 grooves. It came with factory sights and a scope rail
Which leads me to believe it isn't a m Marlin bbl. Any comments? Would like to know where to start to load for this, have 240 HNDY XTP
bullets and some Oregon trail 240gr .431 Lazer cast. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Fred

Doesn't sound like a Marlin made barrel, mine slugs .424" at the lands and .4285" in the grooves, nice and tight.  ;) As long as you shoot light jacketed or .431" or .432" cast, it should shoot good.

          Thanks a lot Tim you are big help as usual. At least I know where to start now, I only bought it as a plinker fun gun for me
 and the kids as still I still love my 45 colt and 45/70 for anything else. Still don't have a 357 max yet but getting close, maybe a
