Question for RICKK
« on: July 09, 2009, 06:16:58 AM »
I've tried emailing you several times since last year and I guess you are not getting them because I have never recieved any responses to any of my attempts at communicating with you; so I'll try contacting you this way.

QUESTION: Whom did you have drill and line the vent on your Hern barrel?

nb: It was mentioned in your reply to the post Re: Removeable Vent Liner; 30 March, 2007.

You aren't far from where I am located and I have a Hern that has to be done.

Thanking you in advance for your response,

rc

RC,

I'm just kickin' this back to the top; Rickk was last active on the 3rd, so he might be on vacation.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

back from vacation now...

I never did put in a vent liner. I simply had a .200 hole put in. Ya, I know, not the best way to do it, I don't need a lecture, but it was fast and didn't cost me anything.

In my mortar they EDM'ed it. In the carronade they put it in a big machine and drilled it. If it becomes a problem later, I can have it drilled/tapped and install a liner.

I assume the same people could drill and tap it for a liner for you, but you would have to give them all the details about how you want it done. I have no idea how much they would charge. They did what I needed done for free in return for letting the whole machine shop hunt out behind my house.

The machine shop is in Westfield, Ma, and they won't freak out if you call and start talking cannons as they have gotten over that already ;-)

If you want contact info, let me know and I'll send it to you.

Rick

The new "message waiting" indictator is kinda small and I didn't notice it.

I sent you contact info in a message.
