Installed Ruger Custom Grips On NV .45
« on: July 24, 2009, 03:00:59 PM »
I bought a set of Ruger's Custom checkered rosewood grips, from the ruger.com website, and installed them today on my .45 New Vaquero.

They fit perfectly, and aren't overly thick where they meet the cylinder frame, like so many custom replacement grips being sold with a beveled edge there.

They look good Ranger. Is that a 4 5/8" barrel on the NV?

Yes, it is, Skunk.

After owning & using several different barrel lengths and grip configs (Bisley/SBH/etc), I've come to prefer short barrels and SAA-type gripframes for a packing pistol.

Heck  - It's just as easy to shoot a shorty as a longer barrel, especially as my vision worsens with age/abuse.  ;)
