Mmmm, sounds good, but not really my style, Chappers.
I think I've said this before but I'll say it again........I'm weird.  :-[
I find magnums a bit passe and of all of the magnums I'm disinterested in the 458 Win tops the list.
If I was after that sort of gun I would probably have bought a CZ 550 Tropical in 416 Rigby.
The thing about 450/400 NE is that it has class!
Before the 375 H&H came along and spoiled the party by making everything without a belt old hat the 450/400 Nitro Express, either 3 1/4" or 3", were the cats pajamas, the bee's knees, the wasp's waistcoat, the dog's bollocks......ok, perhaps not the last one.
When they banned 450 cals in India and parts of Africa and decided on minimum cals for hunting 40 cal was often the minimum.......with of course 9.3x62 the exception to the rule (guess what chambering my Tikka is??  ;D)
And 450/400 NE was chambered both in double rifles AND in Farquharson single shot rifles - tell me, which modern rifle was inspired by the Farquharson action??
That's right, the Ruger No1!!  :)
The bottom line is this - I can't afford a double rifle and the closest I'm going to get to a new classic style rifle in a big bore Nitro Express chambering is the Ruger No1H 450/400 NE 3".
But thankyou for thinking of me.
