Marlin 336 Magazine Problem ??
« on: September 24, 2003, 08:43:28 AM »
I have a brand new 40 year old Marlin 336 in 30-30.  My son wanted to borrow it for a camp gun.  We found that you could put one round in the magazine, but no more.  Everything else works perfect.  I don't think the magazine is jammed because when you load one round you can push it all the way in with a piece of coat hanger.  You just can't push a second round in the magazin.  Any of you folks ever run into this problem befor?

I'm not sure I understand..  If you load a round in the magazine you can then push it further into the magazine with a coathanger wire but a second round is not allowed into the magazine??  If nothing stop the first round from proceeding deeper into the magazine, what stops the second round from entering the mag..  Actually I did have a problem once that was similar.  The mag wound catch shells sometimes and not allow them into the tube..  Was pretty sporadic but the problem was apparent when the weapon was dis-assembled.  There was a gap between the front of the mag tube and it's seat in the receiver..  To keep things as simply as possible, I beveled the INSIDE of the outer magazine tube to prevent it grabbing the rim of the casing..  No more complaints.
