Hollywood press, will it handle .50 BMG cartridge?
« on: July 19, 2009, 12:31:32 AM »

If so, where to buy a Hollywood shellholder for the .50 BMG case?

I can find vintage Hollywood shellholders on ebay, but only for the smaller caliber rifle cartridges like .30-06. I suppose that .50 caliber rifles were not common before the 1980's.

Even if you could find a shell holder your still going to have problems , the press may not have enough room for the over 4" case of the 50 BMG and the dies are not a standard 7/8 dia so they will not screw into the press .

Better off buying a Lee 50 kit that comes with a bushing that allows you to use both the 50 dies as well as the standart .

Yeah, the Lee is the way to go. Unless you specifically want to reload ammo on that antique Hollywood, modern equipment will do a better job, and probably for less money. Unusual old press, that Hollywood!
