Gun Test .22 mag test.
« on: July 07, 2009, 07:56:03 AM »
Even though 2 of the 3 I would consider, I wish they would have tested the Savage & NEF. I'm sorry Ruger dropped the 10/22 mag. I looked for years for one.

I got a Savage 93 in .22mag and I'm getting .3" three shot groups at 100 yds. his is with a real cheap scope. I cannibalized the scope on it for another rifle and just received the new scope for it. Rimfires are very sensitive to the ammo. You need to try various types to find the one your gun prefers.

I found one of the Ruger 10/22 .22 mags a couple of years ago. I put on a heavy Green Mountain barrel, a Kidd trigger in a Hogue stock. I haven’t shot it enough to break-in the barrel, but it shoots nicely, but a good bolt gun will probably out shoot it.

I've also got a Savage 93 pre accutrigger.  It shoots MOA @ 100 with the Hornady 30gr Vmax.

I've got a Savage 93 22 mag and I put a rifle basix trigger in it. With Federal 50 gn HPs it will shoot a large hole at 50 yards. With some ammo it wont shoot a 2" group at 50 yds namely the stuff under 40 gns. The 30 gn ammo that I shot at 100 yds was a 6" group and the bullets were tumbling when they hit the paper.

I'd say get a 77/22mag and send it to CT Precision Chambering.  Randy just sent my 10/22 back and it shoots amazing....sending my 77/17 out later this week.  Another GB forum member Dinni turned me on to this company and I'm impressed!
