An odd question, of sorts.

I see from the previous posting that someone has given a positive review of Chappy's Outfitters. I became aware of his existence when I did some research on the 6.8 SPC on the 6.8 Forums. I saw a picture and his name thus did a search.

What I am interested in is his comments about "PURE WHITE RUSSIAN BOAR" coming soon. I did some net searching and cannot find exactly what that means. Are these some strain of albino hogs? Thank you for any replies.

I would call it more BS and false advertising which seems to run rampant in the hog hunting industry.

Russia is a country. Hogs born in Russia are Russian and if a boar then a Russian boar. Russian is NOT a classification or name of any species of hog. So to technically and legally be a Russian boar the hog would need to be a male born in the country of Russia. So any and all places which advertise REAL RUSSIAN BOARS is flat lying unless they personally imported them from Russia.

A more proper term to use would be European boar and even then unless the one you shoot was imported it really isn't that even. Black is the normal color for them so yes I'd say any white one would need to have pink eyes and no color in the hoofs to be an albino and if not that they it can be white only if bred for that coloration meaning it would not technically be pure. But realistically all hogs came from the same European brood stock and all are the same species even those bred for the commercial grocery store market.

Hi,

Here's link of a pic of one from Cumberland Mountain Preserve in TN.  I suspect it's possible to have them, though maybe not breed them for regular hunting.  Be that as it may, I also suspect it'd be pretty expensive.

BigBoar:

The statement is very misleading as GB said, the correct terminolgy should be Pure European/Euroasian Swine. I did see the young boars personally and some are in fact "Blondes". I have not asked him, but I would assume they come from Two Rivers outdoor club since he said that he purchased them from Illinois. He has some European boars of the San Diego strain that are pure blondes except for the nose and hoofs. They come from the Black Forest of Germany and Chechnya. You can check the following websites to get some more information about them.

Hope this clarifies things for ya.
