I apologise for the broad brush, I really meant only one Canadian."BBF" I really dont care for the guys attitude. I have nothing against Canadians really! I have some distant relatives in Quebec!

BBF has me on ignore because he made a smart assed comment one day and I told him so!  I kinda just like to gig him now that he cant see it!   ::)

Please take no offense.

Well Heather I don't think you ended this discussion. You just stated the complete truth about this subject. I think you embarrassed the bribe takers into shutting up.
I don't think they are bribe takers so much , It's just the they are easily distracted and entertained by the trinkets and bobbles that government has thrown to them. Much like the Cash for Clunkers program health care is the bargain they will pay to much for but heck it's not their  money it's ours. But most folks wont look beyond the deal to the total cost because they now have a shiney new doodad in the driveway. This does not in anyway surprise me when it comes to the "I Want It All Right Now Without Any Effort Generation" But I see more and more so many from my own generation trading Liberty for beads and trinkets and it is a bit troubling. Are we children to be pacified with cheap toys or dogs that happily lick up the scraps that these puffed up servants toss to us. Or is it that we cannot fend for ourselves and we need government to wet nurse us.
Heather you are right about the mindset but it also an evolution thing. Long ago they say we lost our tails now we losing our backbone.
I wont condemn Canada or Europe for their socialist programs and I certainly do not envy them. I wont compare their system to our either. I could careless what they are willing to put up with, we are not them. We are the greatest nation on earth we enjoy more freedoms than any other country. Why then should we try to emulate lesser countries?
And why should we accept leaders who would drag us to lower standards?

When and if the dust settles we all will see what you end up with, you may wish you had at least what we have here.

BTW What I have read about the HC that your present Admin is pushing, I would be against it myself no doubt about that.

We have the best health care in the world already here in the U.S...fact.  Do some things need fixing...yup.  A little competition by letting us cross state lines and "shop".  But like anything else that benefits us and not the government, it gets shot down BY government.  It doesn't really take a 1000 pages of legislation to fix the few things we need fixing, that's the real problem.  They also lie about the numbers of who is not covered, many get health care free already, illegals as well...all free.  Millions of people don't want it at all...they add those numbers in too.  In many cases our doctors out there don't make as much as our people in Congress...GO FIGURE.  They go into debt 150K because they want to be a docotor and some shmo in the White house makes a bogus comment about how they always just yank out a kids tonsils because it's worth more money.  Wow, a slap in the face there for docs, Government needs to create a bad guy, guess it's the doctors now.   I would like my doctors and surgeon to get paid a whole lot more than Congress or anyone in government myself.  They are worth more, much more.   Yes, we already have the best health care here, we just need to tweak it some, not let government ruin it like they did the pilot program...Medicare.  Medicare is government run.  You can ask my son what he thinks of government health care..LOL!!!!  The military people will tell you, it's a joke, they can't even write down the appointments and get it right, let alone pay for anything much with all that regulation.  There is a good example of rationing and quality right there for all to look at.  Ya...let's exapnd that.   ???  I personally don't care what other countries have until most of the news media and people all agree there is something better out there, but so far we are the very best in the world, and the people coming here from all over the world prove it, there is far too much information in the world that tells us this.   Congress knows they have the best there is as well..they won't sign up for what they give some people out there, bank on it...they have the best as well, private doctors of their own choice.  They won't have anything to do with what they offer their "subjects"....

That my friends...is what it's all about in a nutshell...look no farther than what they give themselves, that is all you need to really know.
If they put together a package that Congress will take, and the President and his family....then it's a good one.
That is pretty much the truth of it,  if you boil it all down to simple terms and forget the complications the media and politics of it all.

Yes TM...Reform is good.  I agree with that.

They are not offering reform yet.  Not likely to show up in that 1000 pages of a mess they call a bill.
