Remington 504 5R Rifling?
« on: July 24, 2009, 11:56:10 AM »
I notice the Remington 504 now has the 5R rifling.  Has this always been the case?  I want one.

Many of the Remington 504's did not shoot very well, and I believe that all had that rifling form. I do think that they had bedding issues, and it would be nice to shoot one that had that corrected. (The receiver is round, but the inletting has a flat bottom) Remington dropped the gun after only a short time on the market unfortunately. I just noticed that they have a model 547 available that uses the 504 action, and I believe it is a custom shop gun. Don't know what the price is, but they sure look good, and they guarantee a 1/2" group at 50 yards....... Perhaps you can find a used 504, and with your experience in bedding, and with Remingtons can have a real shooter.
