25/06 load with nosler BT
« on: August 17, 2009, 05:07:01 AM »
I am about to start reloading for the 25-06 and I was looking at the noslers reloading data on their website and they do not have the combonation of powder and bullet that I will be using.  I am using the nosler 100 grain Ballistic tip with IMR 4350 powder.  I was wondering if the Nosler manual would have this data?  If so, I am going to pick up the Nosler Manual. Does anyone know if the Nosler manual would have this data or not?

:D Most of the manuals I have list IMR 4350 with 100 grain bullets. I just cronied  my 25-06 with 100 grain, in this case Serria flat base because they shot the best. The very best powder was IMR 4831, then Re22, then IMR 4350. All shot over 3300fps.  With IMR 4831 pushing 3400 and IMR 4350 about 50 ps. slower. I just looked at my Nosler book ( an older one)the money with my 4350 load. I haven't looked at the newer ones, but it should be a simple matter to find a load for that poweder and bullet. It is one of the best. ;)

Not trying to discourage your work up with the 4350, but my experiences have mirrored Coyote Hunter's almost identically. The IMR-4831 load shot the 100gr BT's into 1/2" or less groups at 200yds 8 out of 10 times. The IMR-4350 load shot the Sierra's to close to the BT's to ever notice the difference. Funny but neither of the bullets would do good at all with the opposite powder.

Good luck
