Not yet, but had fun this weekend anyway. Sure did enjoy that norther that blew in Sunday morning; got my hunting juices flowing all over again even though it wasn't really cold or anything.

Worst part was that I had two does coming under my stand, one in range but hadn't turned broadside, the other about to come out from behind some screening brush, and then...the damn cows came chasing the deer at a dead run! Darndest thing I've ever seen! Of course I got no shot at the leaping deer as they dashed away.    Felt like using the arrow on one of those cows, but of course I didn't. At least I know my stand is situated well. 8)

Opening morning all I saw was a spotted fawn.  Yesterday I was on my new stand and seeing alot of nothing as the evening wore on.  Then I could hear some heavy foot steps in the crunchy leaves and a deer stepped out to my left about 30 yds.  I knew right off that he was gonna be a cull buck. His left rear foot appeared to be injured or malformed or something and as a result he had some malformed antlers on one side,  I debated taking a shot,  but he really wasn't in a spot where I could shoot.  He milled around and reentered the woods circling around and eventually walked out in front of my stand.  Finally he turned quartering towards and I drew and released.  He took off but only made it around40-50 yds.   Nice long deer, gonna make some really good steaks THursday night.   This was in Waller county, which is a one buck county.  Gotta hunt for a doe or two now.

Well, I'm glad to here someone saw some, much less actually have one in the cooler!!!  Went to Rocksprings and didn't see a tail, it's been raining so much they are not hitting the feeders too well.  I plan on going this evening, maybe something will show up.  The acorns are really falling, the deer don't have to move much to get a belly full.  The hunting may not pick up until after it frosts.  I hope they pick up pretty soon, can only shoot does during bow season.

Ras,

Whereabouts are you hunting @ Rocksprings? I own a small tract out that way (it is not where I hunt deer, as I am fortunate to have a much better place to hunt). Just curious.

Well I am O for 4 on the times I have made it to the stand.  All I have seen is hogs & yodies.  First set of hogs were a little far for my long bow, same with the yodies.  This past Thursday evening I did have a sow w/ 3 youngins still on the tit come in to the feeder.  After watching them for about 20 min I switched may arrow for a judo point and let her have it right between the sholder blades.  Talk about squeal.  She will think twice next time.
You think long, you think wrong!!!
