I have both the encore rifle and pistol, both of which were good shooters out of the box. They both needed a little tweaking in the trigger and some fine tuned reloads. The reloads were not a problem but the trigger tweaking was another story. I did a search for encore trigger springs and came up with
Mike Bellm's TC site.
http://www.bellmtcs.com/I bought a three pack of springs from him and read his info on how to do a trigger job. I polished up all the bearing surfaces on a buffer wheel and put in a spring. This was easyer than I thought till I tried to reassemble it. It took a couple hours to finally get the parts in right! I can do it in 5 minutes now!
With the trigger done, reloads worked up for the 223 heavy barrel and my cheapo tasco scope mounted I was in for a pleasent surprise. This thing shoots 5 shots in the same hole under a 1/4 inch at 100 yards every day, all day long.
Before the trigger job it shot just under an inch at 100 yds.
Not exactly a Remington 40XB which will put them all in the same hole and you would swear only one bullet hit the target
I have played with a few NEF single shots, cheap gun, great barrels, terrible triggers and they look like crap. Work the trigger over on one of them and under those rough looks you will find a tack driver!
