whats the take on Herters
« on: August 04, 2009, 02:40:58 PM »
Hey folks I found a guy looking to sell his Herters single action revolver in .357. did a little research and did not come up with much got the history but also found that it is a little tough to get parts  anymore which is a little concern due to the fact that the grips are cracked and should be replaced. Guess I’m looking for suggestions and possibly freed back from past or present owners to see if it is worth picking up.

Howdy,
Herter's SA revolvers were made by J. P. Sauer in Germany. I think they sold them under the name Werstern Marshall or some such. They have the four-click hammer with a captive firing pin like the old Rugers. They appear to be strong, well-made guns and I am currently after one that my buddy inherited. As for the grips, I would bet that SAA or Ruger grips would come awfully close to fitting. Find someone who will let you borrow a grip panel and try it, then order an aftermarket set.
