Hi all.
I traded for a nib 527 at my fav. pawn shop the other day.
I just love this little gun. It is fun to shoot and very accurate even with wolf ammo.
I have a bunch of the 154gr soft point that I got for my sks.(traded for the 527) It will do 2in groups with this at 100 yrds.It doesn't like the 123 gr hp. for some reason.
I started working up loads and I have several questions.
Does anyone have a faverot load in 150 gr? Also I am working up a load in 130gr will thew .308 work?  I have some 150 gr sp. in .311. do these work also?
I am using the 154 gr wolf pull down at this time. How so they work on deer?
Thanks Stan.

Im thinking of trading in my Saiga on one of these or a Rem 799.  I tend to burn too much ammo with the Saiga as well as my SKS.  I'll keep the SKS as that was the first center fire rifle I ever had and it has never failed to fire and shoots well.  I believe both the CZ and the Rem have 311 barrels.  I  had a Ruger mini 30 which had a 308 barrel and as almost all the import ammo is 311 both the Saiga and the SKS out shot it by quite a bit.  Did your CZ come with a scope on it and if so was it the CZ scope rings?  Somewhere I read that because of the way the bolt comes back that with most 'normal' rings the bolt will hit the back of the scope.

Mine came new in box, with an extra clip and a set of rings.
I broke 3 of the screws trying to tighten them. They go from snug to pop real easy.
I found some allen head to replace them with. I removed the rear sight and the front sight. I couldn't find a flush screw for the front, so I put one in that about fits without tightning. I didn't want to ruin the threads.
All in all this gun shoots very well with what I have.
I have several rounds loaded in different combos. to try when I can get to the range. I will post a range report whin I get a chance.
Thanks for the reply Ranger
Stan.

STM,

I had one of the old Ruger 77 7.62 x 39 rifles that I think were made in a special run for a large distributor.  I was an accurate rifle but not much too look at with the skeletonized plastic stock and stainless barrel.  The 7.62 x 39 was a cheap round to shoot at the time and you could buy a case of non corrosive military ball ammo for a song.  It always shot great but the reloading process with this round was the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced.  It seemed that no powder I tried would allow room for the bullet to be seated or would overflow with a (book) maximum load.  The loads I did use were not as swift nor near as accurate as the 99 cent military stuff.  I let a friend of mine have the rifle for one of his sons and he is probably killing deer deader than an anvil with it today.  I think that particular rifle is worth a few bucks to collectors today also.  I need to get me another Russian rifle besides the Mini 30 that has been languising in my safe for the last 10 years.  The CZ is one I have been thinking about and I guess it's about time.  They are fun guns.

Well we had a gun show here in Livingston, Mt. over the weekend. I didn't see one CZ 527 for sale. I was suprised.
I did go to the range and try out all the loads I had.
Mine liked the 150 gr. hornady sp in .312 with 24 gr. of 4198 the best.
I have to say that the wolf 154 gr sp. shot almost as well at 200 yrds. about 2in. group 4 inches low.
I tries some 125 gr hp in .308 and they stringed for me. It was very aparent that they would not work very well. The 130 gr sp in .308 did ok at 50 yrds, but not so well at 100, don't know why.
The wind was blowing as usual here, so I didn't adjust for groups.
