Senior Health Care

Our group was discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program

and we think we have a solution. You most likely have heard the ideas that

if you're a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need

health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of

you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure,

diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let's take care of the young people. After

all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
 
Here is our group's solution. When you turn 70, you are given a gun

and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives

from any state. Of course, you will be sent to prison (old folks home) where

you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care

you need. New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney,

lung, heart, or toe nail clipped? Well bring it on. And who'll be paying for

all of t his. The same government that just told us that we are too old for

health care. And, since you'll be a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.

I found out yesterday that AARP is against the bill as proposed.  I am not a member as they are anti-gun, but that is interesting.  My doctors, dentist, and nurses are against it also.  So why the push.  It took Obama 6 months to choose a dog.

Where is the article or position paper by AARP that they are against the proposal? They were definitely in favor of it two weeks ago.

Most of the irate people making waves at the ""town hall meetings"lately are SRs they must be giving AARP the business also. Good for them, now if they just vote in 2010

I didn't read it, it was what an AARP member told me.  She was obviously wrong.  She brings their magazines to work, so I assumed she knew what she was talking about.  Sorry.

By the way, politifact typically skirts the issues by focusing on an element of an argument, it is unreliable as a source of explanation of the real issues. It should be regarded as useless, and the AARP reference to it should be considered an act of deception.

I'm not sure how they connect talk radio to the article. No major talk radio show is referenced in the article.

Of the major talk shows I've listened to, the discourse is largely factual and responsible. The rest is mostly calculated to add entertainment value. The focus is principally on  the question of how this is going to be paid for. They also dwell on the historically reliable fact that government administration of things increases their costs, rather than decreasing them, as Obama and other "reform" proponents claim.
