I've had very good luck using Bore butter as both a lube and rust preventative. I decided to try it in my Black Diamond as a bore protectant and was very happy to find that it did not negatively effect accuracy or point of impact( shooting sabots btw). In fact the consistency of group size improved as did ease of cleaning.
Being very bored , I looked through old posts and found the same info posted about 5 years ago. I used to degrease my bore prior to shooting and hunting.Thought I had to. The problem with hunting with a degrease bore is about the same as hunting with a fouled bore, namely bare steel and dirty steel will rust if you're not VERY careful. With alittle BB in the pores , its much less of an issue and very comforting...
So re-read those old posts. might save you some time and money trying to reinvent the wheel the same way some other schlub did...
