Mora Knives

I have a habit of buying cheap knives on E Bay. Most of them I don't use, I just kinda have a collection I guess. I have always heard that Mora of Sweden knives were supposed to be good knives. I recently bought one and have been using it for a different stuff, from the kitchen when I first got it, to skinning a couple hogs last week. This knife is awesome!! It was sharp right out of the box, holds and edge well and is really easy to re sharpen. I think I paid around $12 for it. The sheath is the only thing I don't like, it's plastic and kinda ugly, but the knife is great. If you want a great knife at a bargain price, check these out, you won't be disappointed!!

Hey Shiner,
Get on the net and look up "Ragnars Forge".  he has a lot of scandinaviun knives from ugly to drop dead gorgeous collectors items.  He also has the info on them all and thier method of manufacture.  I have a couple of these and use them for carving.  My brother in law borrowed one, took it hunting a couple of years back and hasn't returned it yet.  What he has done is bring by antelope, wid hog, axis deer, venison, bear, buffalo and elk while telling me how well that funny knife holds an edge.  Come to think of it I guess I should order a couple more and loan those to him.  I know he needs a fish filet knife and I love trout and bass.

Thank you for the correct name and address, sometimes I write without thinking long enough.  I was in Canada on vacation about 9 years old in 1956 when our host gave me a Puka(?) with a curly birch handle.  It was close to thirty years later before I learned to appreciate it.  It is not only still in service, it is the first knife I reach for when I start a carving.  Mine is a laminate type with high carbon steel sandwhiched in stainless(?) I have several carving knives now including other scandinaviun, but it is still the first I reach for.

Flat out great knives. I have about, Well I lost count. ;D Theo ones I use the most is the Stainless Clipper and the Laminated No. One. Love the 740 as well.

 I got 3 of these (carbon steel version) last year for IIRC $26 from Sportsman's Guide (only because I had a free shipping coupon though, they usually kill you with S&H).



 Nice knives, and nearly disposable at that price. One of mine doesn't snap into the sheath securely though...

I have a #521.  They are a Puukko style knife which is supposed to be about as sharp as a knife can get.  I just wanted to make sure I got one with a finger guard, because I don't trust myself.  I just wanted something with a colorful handle that would be hard to loose.  I'm hoping to get to try it out field dressing this fall.  I hope, I hope, and I hope!

See what ya'll did, I couldn't stand it any longer. Ordered a 552 and 555 carbon steel models. Got them yesterday and seem to be very good metal, sharp. I had to put one on a stone to just see.

Last year I bought a total of 22 MORAS like Victor3 bought.Theykept getting cheaper in each catalog.I blued each one after engraving  initials on the blade and sheath then gave them to family and friends,good knife.

Yea I've got at least a dozen Mora knives mostly #1's a few of the smaller ones and recently one of the green army ones, needed to round out an order to get free shipping.  Stuff 'em in kit bags, in the tool box, in backpacks, etc.   If yea ask me to borrow yea a knife it will more than likely be a Mora I put in your hand. Have several Bruseletto, Pukko, and sami knives too. Check out Ragweed Forge for Moras and other scandi knives, Ragnar will treat your right!!

  I've got one knife that is factory built and I've got another one that uses their steel in a handmade edition. Both have the best steel I've ever seen in any knife anywhere.
