Attitude plain and simple
« on: June 18, 2010, 09:11:02 AM »
Ok it hit the fan , you may or may not have your gear . Is your attitude right ? Will you now feel you must take on the world to survive or do you have the guts to let the ego go and do what is nessary to live ? Is it more important to be seen as a Rambo type guy or girl or is it more important to live regaurdless of how you look to others ?
Attitude in a survival time can be worked to your advantage or defeat.
An example - you have found an area to stay in . Maybe its your home . As people pass near by would you comfront them or just watch ? Would you confront them or keep low and learn ?
At some point you may have to fight but would you avoid it if you could ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

IMO we should avoid all conflct other than self protection.  Hollywood and real life aren't the same.  That's why I dislike "tactical weapons" for survival situations.  They draw attention and conflict.

Become invisible and you will have no confrontatons. Protect you and what is yours. If the need for a fight arises recognize it eariy and make your strike unforseen and complete. Your genes will survive and you will be accountable only to your self. You are your only judge. eddiegjr

Swampman I believe you have a good point . At home a good M-1A would be nice but out and about a good old mod 94 might be nice for a short term . Long term it may boil down to fire power. I really don't think people realize what SHTF could mean . No food , no medicine , no water etc. . It could mean walking every place you go with no protection other than what you provide for yourself. It takes about 45 min. to get to where my father grew up in a car from my home. When grand dad took tobacco to market in a wagon it was a three day trip one going , one selling and one comming home . On buying day he got goods for a year. A minor first aid need could become a crisis in many cases . That would be what we could face , to say life changing would be an understatement.

In the days prior to antiseptics and antibiotics a scratch on the finger could result in infection, blood poisioning and death. The early explorers of the new world, persons of the civil war era and world war one and most of WWII feared infection because it would mean certain death. No antibiotics were available.

The early explorers longed to get back home where the hardships of frontier liveing and the constant threat of death by the smallest injury could be avoided.

A blister on the foot, a splinter in the finger, anything that broke the protective barrier of the skin could result in a life threatening situation.

It would be a very bad day if we did enter a SHTF crisis that stoped our way of life . How many could control their attitude in such times ? It would be tuff.
