Shoot in SE Michigan

We will be having a fun shoot with 6 or so full size guns in the Port Huron area at Noon on Saturday, August 15, 2009.

What time does the shoot start at bluewater? Also i will be dragging my toolmaker buddy with me again this year. Do you guys need any particular size end mills for projects?

We are going to gather at 11:00 am.  We will decide what kind of program on site.  Bring your own food and drink.  We hope to do alot of shooting.

   Thanks for the offer, but I'm swearing off any New projects.  :o  I still have several projects "in the works" to complete and plan on taking most /some of the winter off.(I'll see how that works.)

Let me know if someone needs a few. He makes them every day and has quite a few just lying around for whatever projects he has in mind. He has access to a huge milling machine two lathes, one with a bed of 11 feet and the other 22 feet. Just gotta get some steel and figure out what we can build. He'll be bringing along some extras saturday. I got him hooked good on this blackpowder stuff

We had a fine afternoon of fun shooting with 10 guns of so showing up. Thanks to the artillerman for organising this event again this year.

Guns on the line: 12 pdr Napoleon, orginal iron 6 pdr, three Ellsworths, King Howizter, Hotchkiss, 3.2 inch Span-Am, Hughes gun, and a subscale British 3 pdr.   Quite a number of rare guns.

There were some people taking photos, but most of us were too busy shooting.  My wife didn't show up with the camera until towards the end of the day.  I will see about posting a couple of pics.

This is one of my favorite photos of the few that I  have.  It doesn't show a cannon firing or even much of the Ellsworth.  What it does show is family and friends having a great afternoon shooting.  This is a photo of Grandfather and Grandson getting ready for the young cannoneer to pull the lanyard.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
