peltor help
« on: August 09, 2009, 03:40:03 AM »
I finally broke down and bought a pair of electronic ear muffs.

Peltor 6-s

There are no instructions included with this unit and the information in the on-line manual is vague also.

There is nothing that tells you how to install the batteries. I don't want to go pulling on things, so I thought someone here could help,

Unfortunately, I don't have the Tactical 6 Model. However, I do have the Peltor Tactical 7 Classic Model, which I bought a few years ago. For the model that I have, there is a rectangular-shaped cover on one of the ear muffs that is secured by a screw. Just remove the screw, take off the cover and put in a 9V battery, then reinstall the cover and tighten the screw.

Like I said, I do not have the Peltor 6 model. So, I don't know if it's the same as for the Tactical 7.

Good luck.

Nope, no screws, no panels anywhere.

It takes 4 aaa batterries and I cannot tell where they go.

It seems they go under the foam liner inside the cup but it does not move easily and I am reluctant to pull on it any harder.\

Thanks anyway though.

GRIMJIM,

When I got your response, I got a little ticked, not at you but at a company that would not include proper instructions (or any instructions for that matter). So, I did a web search and came up with a Technical Service toll free # to call (800-444-4774). You call the # and then listen to the options. In my case it was option # 2 (which specifically mentions Peltor products). In any case, I asked the person, who answered the phone, about where the batteries go. I was told that 2 batteires go under each foam cover. The foam covers are designed to be removed, though the rep. did not tell me specifically how to do it.

The rep also told me that the only other way to install a battery into some of their models (ie, like the kind I have) is to remove the rectangular shaped cover, as I stated in my message above.

You may want to call them to ask more specific questions. I just called and spoke to the rep., even though it is after 5PM EST (in MA). I don't know how much longer they'll be open today.

that was the part that got me going also. Even the pdf file of the manual on-line doesn't tell you how to put them in.

Maybe it was too obvious for them to think of when they made the manual.
