"Streets of Laredo" rifle
« on: July 14, 2010, 09:33:27 AM »
I just watched the Streets of Laredo for the upteenth time and just noticed the scope sighted rifle was a straight pull Swiss.  They were calling it a German rifle but it had the barrel keg bolt handle of the Swiss.  The barrel appeared to be thinner than a K-31 but it may just be a movie prop.  James Garner (Capn Call), Sam Sheppard (Pete), and Sissy Spacek played in this follow up to Lonesome Dove.   Anyone else notice this?

Funny you mention it, I saw it maybe 7-8 years ago, then just a few days ago I bought the movie and watched it again. Yea, the bolt handle is a dead giveaway, as well as the film showing them actually using the straight-pull. I found it funny that when the two were shooting at cactus apples, they shot about 10-11 rounds rapidly, without reloading. Oh well. I would also imagine that not every general store out in the wilds of Texas & Mexico carried ammo for it.

The rifle in the movie is actually a SWISS M96/11 RIFLE
