custom work on 500 S&W
« on: September 01, 2009, 05:19:01 PM »
i have a 500...one of the first

8 inch barrrel

i was  discussing  my hatred  of muzzle breaks with a member here
i  know  it is   a 2 part barrel and shroud
plus i  like a shorter barrel
i  know trating is an  option

but during our discussion  it dawned on  me do get a gunsmith to replace the barrel
with  a  one peice normal barrel.......probly  5 inch.
.....may  as well go with  octogon.....just because  i like them
what about  the shrouded ejecter rod..is that part of the lock up?

is  this posible ?
 and  who can  do  it?
any speculation  on cost?

I have three of the little devils: a standard 4”, a John Ross Special 5” and a 6 ½” PC Hunter. My favorite is the 5” JRS. You might consider calling the Performance Center and seeing if they have any 5” barrels left over. Weight with the 5” barrel and fluted cylinder is 57 oz.
