so you have an safe with guns you are proud of ...whens the last time you shot some ofum...
i compare that safe to love ungiven...amounts to not much..
if you want to make a difference,,,find some person that you can put a spark of interest in
guns an the concept of the 2nd... get that person an takum shooting with you ...then if thier interest grows and they have particular interest in one of your rifles etc... make it easy for them to own it...
never cared to give something outright as much as to ,,help the person ,,by letting them have thier needs
an letting them earn it..a gift is fine but as a regular thing its better to give them a way to earn it..
then you have recruited another soldier in the preservation of the 2nd.. it will influence his vote,,
it will allow him to become an possible bottum line defender of the constitution...most important it will launch you out of your easy chain ,,into active partisipation ..today somebody is being recruited in to the ranks of the antis..
now for me this sunday morning his grace is sufficient,,what ever the day holds...slim

Great idea, slim, the FFL I work with helps kids out a lot. There are lots of squirrels in the hayfeilds and there's always a kid wanting a .22. Bob will have 'em pull weeds, shovel snow, whatever. I used to dicker with him pretty hard, he wouldn't budge much. He puts on a good act with the kids, he teaches 'em how to deal and negotiate. The kids don't realize he's letting .22s go cheaper than he pays.

After watching him work with the kids, I pay whatever he asks.

Weasel, how does your FFL Bob keep the ATF off his butt?  I knew a fellow who tried a simular method of giving youngsters a means of owning a gun and got himself in pretty deep.  The parent or guardian MUST approve and accept the firearm on behalf of a minor.  He let a kit take a .22 squirrel hunting without consulting the parent, the kids mom almost had him sent to jail.  He was told that he could not eveen let a kid shoot a gun while under his supervision without the approval of the guardian.

I am all for helping the kids, but when firearms are involved one must tread lightly.

I didn't start hunting til I was in my 30's and owe a college friend for taking me under his wing and creating the elk slayer that I am. ;)
Since then I've helped a couple others get into the sport. This year I'm taking a NJ kid I worked with on his first hunt. Even loaning him a rifle.
I have a hard time selling my guns but have been able to help these guys find guns. One of them was a lefty and out of the clear blue sky his need and a friends desire to get rid of a classic lefty Savage 30-06 just happened.
Can't be too careful with kids. My wife's brother had a bb gun when he was a kid so I thought a bb gun for his son would be a nice Christmas present. Forgot to factor in his wifes opinion, which was a strong one! Now before kids shoot with mine I always talk to the parents first.
Here in CO we're fortunate to have an awsome 4-H shooting program. These kids have access to bb guns, pellet rifles, 22s, shot guns, black powder, archery and even throwing knives and axes like you dream about. They are the future and I'm continually impressed how people go out of their way to lend support.
