Our small town of WINCHESTER VA just installed three cameras down town on the mall.
We really don't have much violance in the downtown area as most of the stores have all moved out to the super malls.
There has been a lot of comments in the local paper against them.
You know the talk, rights and all.
The others say if you have done nothing wrong than you have nothing to hide.
I told a police officer friend of mine the other day when he made that very same comment to me then I guess he wouldn't mind if they put one on his street next to his house.
He didn't like that idea very much to which I quoted him the same reply he gave me.
Funny, it's ok for everyone else to have to deal with it but not the ones in charge.

When ever I pass near one I place my hands clasped behind my head and lean against the wall for a moment.
Then I turn and smile at the camera and shake my head as I walk off.

Just more big brother!!!


Sure am glad I live in the country!

 but i ll bet it wouldnt help the pic out none..we all know england doesn t allow guns to the masses though ,,don t we...
 this the perfect story to prove necessity of right to bear arms,,also danger of too much big gov t control... it would be on the 6 o clock news about now.... kinda doubt it will be there ...what yall think..slim

Well, I might be going against most folks' opinions, but I don't have a problem with survailance cameras in public area's. I don't see much difference if a camera is in use, or a cop is watching from a corner, or a roof-top. I don't have any expectation of privacy while in a public area. How would I feel if a camera was pointed at my house....just fine, I'd worry less about burglary when I'm gone.
There are already many camera's being used by private security ( business ) that "cover" public sidewalks, etc. I just don't see a problem.
And, quite a few vary serious crimes have been solved due to video tape.

Several ways to view these camera's.
All in all they are not intrusive too the mainstream, and, helpful in many circumstances.
The end results could be pretty bad, depending on who gets control of them and how much control they wish to exert.

I'm all for them in public places, I patrol a 7 mile lake from midnight to 8 a.m., by the time I make it from one end to the other, alot of bad things have happened. Police backup is a good 30 minutes away, if someone were to attack or kill me, I want the judge to have all of the evidence he can get. They also help me out if someone cries foul, and you pull up the video, and they eat crow. ;)
