Brian is a Gunsmith and probably wants to work with his hands, but Remington/H&R would be a lot better off if he headed up Customer Service for more bucks a year and some perks. For more than a few years now, he knows what's available and what can be done and what cannot. Nobody in Madison seems to have a clue because they are hundreds of miles away, don't have the information or bother to look it up, They obviously don't call Illion to check. Is there a complete inventory listing missing between Illion and Madison? Why isn't Customer support in the same building with the shop. I worked in inside sales for years. If a customer had a question and I didn't know the answer, I went to the shop and talked with the boss. I found out first hand what could be done and what couldn't. It appears to me Madison simply reads the catalog listings and nothing more. CS has improved, but not enough to get four or five stars.
If I'm gonna rant some more about H&R. I've got a couple of gripes....Why don't they go back to the Topper contoured rifle barrels and why don't they simply ream the .357 to Maxi when they make them. To me, they're a no-brainers and would increase sales. Example: Why sell a barrel that will shoot .38 Special and .357 Magnum only when you can sell the same barrel/rifle that will shoot .38 Special, .357 Magnum. .360 Dan Wesson and .357 Maximum? The .45LC barrel could go to .454 or .460. The versatility alone should sell the package. Ask anyone here. They all shoot well.
I think H&R should fire all the Top Brass and put Brian and Tim in charge and we'd get the Handis we want that actually work.
End of rant.
