My"new" KP-1 in 45/70...
« on: October 11, 2009, 06:18:23 PM »
This was a trade deal for a new PSL...I recieved a KP-1 "as new in box"  with 3 bbl's, 45/70,300WCM, and a 50cal. 209 ignition. All SS and black synthetic hardware. I posted already, that the 300mag bbl will not close(lock up) in another section of the forum.
I was out today with the 45/70 and 50cal at the local range. All I can say is...WOW on the 45/70!  2 shots in one and a 1/2" stragler @ 25 yrds, and 2 in one and a 1/2" stragler @ 100yrds.!  I am very happy with the results. (most likely my fault on the straglers) With a little more time with this handy,I could shoot 1/2" groups...no problem.

As far as zero=ing the 50 cal....didn't happen today. Shot it for the first time, though. Some help from the locals, and thanks! Could only hit the 50yrd range, and 3 shots with a scope, did not hit the pizza box. Kinda sucked....but I will have some spare time this week I hope to take a large piece of cardboard and set up at the 25yrd target and get it dialed in.....atleast I can load it now  :-[ The 1 week season for early ML (doe only)  :( opens this Saturday so I need to get it set before then.
As far as the 45/70 goes.......it shoots just as well as my Rem 700 7mm mag with a SS bbl and magna/ported... I am truely amazed at the groups from this KP-1.

This post is no good without photos of your new toy!  ;D
Try to look unimportant.   Your enemy might be low on ammo.
