Is for the later Contenders (post s/n 195,000?)

This one

Is from a scan I made of an early Contender diagram and set of instructions which DRFannin kindly sent to me for scanning and distribution.
Thanks Ron.  This one is pre-sliding safety.  Older than mine and that one is s/n 91,xxx.

If other folks have material that they think would be of interest to the community, I'd be happy to scan, convert to pdf and upload.  Let me know.

Hi.  I added a couple of other things that may be of interest.  First is the current G2 Manual

The second is the Supreme Court finding vis a vis TC selling a shoulder stock along with a pistol.  I have no intention of getting into a discussion on this topic but I thought that it might be useful to have the actual court papers handy.

I know that these things (some at least) are floating around the interweb and can be gotten elsewhere.  I figured that having them in one place was worth a thread.

This is the latest old documentation on he Contender courtesy, once again, of Ronf.  Ron sent me some other Contender stuff which I posted (and thanked him for elsewhere) but he should have been credited here.  My bad.  Now fixed.

This is an interesting 2 pager.  Old opening system and old firing pin selector.  Note that they brag about 15 (!!) Calibers including the elusive .9mm  ;D

I love this old stuff.

BTW:  I kept these file sorta large so that the illustrations would be crisp.

Click on the link then click "download".  They wll open in your Adobe PDF reader.  Print or save.

Enjoy.

As an owner of a real old Contender, as well as the OP in the topic that prompted RonF to mention he had these, I thank you, too.  This is great!

This is also such a great forum!  I've gotten a lot of support, direction, and even parts from people here, and I'm a rank newbie.  ;)

Glad I opened this thread, I've been doing it wrong for more than 20 years!

Thanks Incitatus ! As you can see by my earlier posts, I have an early Contender, made in 1970.
It sure is nice to have an actual illustration that matches my gun!

My early Contender has the checkered walnut grip, checkered walnut forend that snap fits to the 10" 222 rem Oct barrel. My buddy tells me that my Contender may have collectible value.

I finally have it shooting ok. I had to shim the scope base to move point of aim up on target. I also discovered that the 222 likes smaller bullets. It shoots 50 gr fine, keyholes 55 gr. Shooting 21 grs of H322.

Again, thanks for the Old Contender PDF

Here is a pic of my Contender: http://home.pacbell.net/rrfasi/photos/contender.jpg

Thanks again

Nice lookin' gun, Leapin.  That is the second style grip, which was designed to somewhat mitigate the recoil of the heavier calibers.  It is good for smaller hands, too.
