Some yrs. ago i was at a big shoot in Mich. Several of the biggest named gunsmiths in the country had booths set up there. One (who I won't name) was doing "while you wait " trigger jobs and he had a long line waiting to get them. $35 a pop and all he was doing (he was doing it under the counter but i was in the back and could see. These were mostly 1911s
cocked them and putting a screwdriver under the hammer lifting it up and pulling the trigger
couple of times and handing it back to the customer. Maybe he had it down to an art but i never thought much of him as a gunsmith after that but his customers seemed happy.
It will improve your trigger a little to cut one leg off the trigger return spring or bend both legs so they don't excert as much pressure to return the trigger. Cutting the mainspring or replacing it with a lighter one can cause problems,especially on a .22 because they require a heavier hit than a certerfire primer.
